Cyclists Fighting Cancer

CFC provides a unique and highly effective way of helping children and young people with cancer through activity and exercise.

We give new bikes, tandems and specially adapted trikes to these children and young people who have been affected by cancer through the UK.  Exercise is very important for rehabilitation.  Cancer treatments cause a wide variety of issues, from loss of limbs to blindness, weakened hearts, lungs and muscles to depression and loss of self esteem.

Cycling is the best form of activity for our brave young people, we note remarkable results each day.  It is remarkable the difference something as simple as a bike can provide.

More about the charity

Our bikes and trikes give children a fun, exciting focus for their recovery and also provides a way to build lost self confidence.

Cancer also causes massive disruption in families, therefore we also give bikes to their siblings and in many cases their parents in order that they can take part in an activity as a family once again after what can be years of hospitalisation and upheaval and to increase the applicant's opportunities to enjoy cycling in a social environment.

We plan to supply another 600 awards this year which will take our total since we started in 2006 to over 2000 cases.

Through consultation with parents, physiotherapists and oncologists we have built our service around reliable, specialist knowledge which promotes the benefits of regular exercise as part of both physical and mental recovery.
