Star Fundraisers in October
We’re taking the time to congratulate our star fundraisers this month! These are people who have taken on incredible challenges for charity or who have raised amazing amounts through their fundraising.
Every month we’ll award the superstar fundraiser title to one team and they’ll be on the shortlist for an extra £1,000 donation to their charity at our 2016 MaD Awards. Get ready to be inspired…
With close family members suffering from Dementia and Alzheimer’s, Christine was determined to help by raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. She bravely took on an Ironman in Mallorca – made up of a 3.8km swim, a 112 mile bike ride and then a marathon to top it all off! With plenty of supporters around her, Christine managed to finish the gruelling challenge in 14 hours and 43 minutes and claims she didn’t even feel stiff the next day! Even better, she raised £1,190 for Alzheimer’s Research UK – well done Christine!

JM Posner Charity Cycle
Four of the team at JM Posner decided to support a local charity by taking on an epic fundraising challenge! Raising money for the Watford FC CSE Trust, the group took on the challenge of cycling the 200 miles from London to Paris, despite being novices in the sport. It was a tough few days – ranging from negotiating the traffic in London, riding the long hills in Brighton to pedalling through the beautiful countryside of France. Arriving at the Eiffel Tower felt like an amazing accomplishment for the group and they managed to raise a fantastic £3,500 for their chosen charity – congratulations!

After volunteering for the Befriending Plus Service at Age UK Buckinghamshire and seeing the fantastic results, Team Brind wanted to help commemorate 70 years of the charity. They took on the Thames Path Challenge – something which was a little daunting for both. But their boots were clearly made for walking and they managed to raise £900 – great work!

Darren & Katy
Inspired by the Florrie’s Children’s Team ‘around the clock’ care for sick children and their families in the local area, two Mix96 DJs took on their own ‘around the clock’ challenge. To raise money and awareness for this special charity, Darren and Katy were broadcasting from 7am on Wednesday 30th September to 9am on Friday 2nd October – giving them 50 hours to make a difference. And that they did – raising an incredible £10,210 for Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity!
