Handy Tips for Fundraising in 2016
Set yourself a target.
Set a fundraising target then tell everyone about it, people will want to help you hit your target.
Tell the charity you are fund raising for.
It might sound obvious, but so many people forget. Charities often have a newsletter, website, twitter etc ask for some support, or post on their Facebook page. You may find that their current supporters will be happy to support you in your fundraising efforts.
Tell your story
Use all social media platforms and tell the story of your epic fundraising journey. Keeping people in touch with your journey will keep them engaged and hopefully they will share your story.
Use online and off line methods of collecting your funds.
Use Make-a-donation.org website to have a fundraising page, and of course get 100% of your donation to the charity, but also carry a paper sponsorship page (you can download one from your MAD fundraising page), you never know when you might meet a good friend who will sponsor you on the spot! PS don’t forget the gift aid box on your paperwork.
Tell your local paper
We all love to read a good news story – Try and get an interview with a local journalist you may get some local coverage and make sure you direct people to your Make a Donation giving page.
Where does your money go and how does it help?
Have an example of how the money you raise will help your cause. It makes a compelling story for people to know how, who or what their money will help. For example, £5 will provide vaccinations for 10 Children.
When is pay day?
Most people will feel able to give on or just after payday, your timing when asking for money can make a huge difference.
Advertise your fundraising activity
Pop up posters in your office, local club, gym or even pub. Don’t be shy about advertising your efforts… it is after all for a great cause.
Good luck with your amazing fundraising efforts this year. Don’t forget to tell us about your story as we are really happy to help you shout about your fundraising activities.
